Teh geenbean has an exhaust leak, since I have to get it fixed, I figured now is a good time to change anything since it's gotta be worked on anyways.
I want headers and exhaust, I'm pretty sure pacesetter only makes headers for the v6, so what exhaust would you guys recommend?
I'm not leaning towards flowmaster, I've heard nothing good about them lately, and also heard they sound like crap on a v6. But if anyone knows anything different please fill me in. In shopping I've seen that they are the cheapest, and you do get what you pay for so.... yeah. 'Nuff said.
I'm leaning towards Magnaflow/Borla right now, Borla being a lil' more pricey...
So yeah, any opinions???

:teach: away.

I don't know what the magnaflow sounds like on a V6 but they seem to make a quality product.

I believe that the Magnaflows on V6 cars sound decent. Borla only if you decide to swap a V8 later and keep the exhaust.

the Borla is only $100-$200 more than the Magnafow setup, and if theres a reasonable difference then it'd be worth it.

I'm looking at the v6 setup, I don't think it'd do me much good if I swapped to a v8.

i would go with the magnaflow, it sounds pretty good on 3.8fury's 6, and its cheaper, and i have heard it on some other 4/6 bangers and it didnt sound too ricey at all

I'm not a big Borla fan, but they sound better than just about everyone else for anything less than an 8. I vote Borla.

Perhaps I worded that wrong.. What I meant to say was that it sounds great on everything. 6 and 4 bangers get a better boost from it though because I can't say that I've ever heard any other exhaust on them that didn't sound like Japan was welded the exhaust. Borla sounds great on everything, especially 4 bangers and 6ers is what I was meant.

3.4 or 3.8 beeny? (cant remember)

if 3.4, flowmaster sounds decent, had it on my old 3.4 for years until i got rid of it for the t/a. magnaflow is really quiet. borla is a bit overkill IMO for a v6, it wont sound any different than any other exhaust on a v6 and costs to much for what you'll get from it.

pacesetter is pretty much your only choice if its a 3.4. if its a 3.8 theres clear image headers but they both accompolish the same thing and are the same thing (shorty headers)

I agree. It's hard to make a v6 sound good with any amount of exhaust work - most aftermarket exhausts sound horrible. The more you spend on the exhaust setup for a v6 the worse it sounds, generally from what I've noticed.

However, I really enjoy the stock exhaust note on mine at least at idle. I don't really know what it sounds like at speed, though. High RPMs however are ew.

I have a flowmaster on my v6 that was there when I bought the car. After some work by my buddies at the exhaust shop I use for my business, it sounds pretty good. But, they actually recommended the Magnaflow if I decided to upgrade for better sound. Hope this helps.
