Is anyone runnin any adjustable shocks? Im plannin on a fully adjustable rear suspension setup, TA, LCA's, panhard, everything, and I was wondering what adjustable shocks would compliment the rest of the parts best. Im thinkin Strange or QA1 12 way adjustable. This will still be a DD so the 24 way adjustable is a bit unreasonable right now. It would be nice if I could find some that are rebuildable, but I havent been able to yet. Ill be runnin lowering springs at all four corners, the rears will prally be 150#, but Im open to suggestions on spring rate, and would like some actually. Due to the fact that this will be a DD for a while longer, I believe goin to a coil over setup would also be unreasonable at this point, is this true? Please give me some guidance lol. Thanks.

the QA1's and the Konis are what I've heard are best, but dude you just seriously have to have money to just throw away to buy those damn things. I have Strano springs and the cheap ass $100 apiece KYB adjustables on my car and it rides like a dream. It rode like freakin' crap with the Eibach springs, but after I switched to the Stranos the ride improved 110%. That leads me to believe that the springs make more of a difference than the shocks do. Now, I could be just not totally informed on the matter, because I haven't rode in a car with the Strano's and a Koni/QA1 setup, but I can tell you my car rides like a freakin' champ now. If i could afford the expensive shocks, I would probably get them, but I have better things to spend my money on and that's where it's going.

Now, on to the LCA's. You don't need adjustable LCA's. All you need is the relocation brackets to get your suspension angles back to right and you'll be set. You can get the adjustable LCA'S, but again you're just throwing away money, and a coilover setup.......man, if you plan on pushing like 900hp I can understand, but if you're not I don't understand why you would want it.

I'm speaking all of the above from my experiences with my suspension setup that I have/have had on my car.

This is my current setup, which I am extremely pleased with other than not having it quite finished yet:

Hotchkis STB
UMI 3 point weld in SFC's
BMR LCA's
Spohn adj. PHB
Spohn adj. T/A <-----about to be replaced w/ UMI piece
Strano springs
KYB adj. shocks

hope this helps somewhat :thumb:

That was a help, thanks. But I suppose I should explain my reasoning for all this adjustable stuff. Ill be runnin on at least 4 different tracks year round. Ill be soley participating in drag racing, no auto cross, no road racing. Im just tryin to maximize my chassis tuning capabilities. As we all know, all the power in the world isnt worth a damn if it goes up in smoke when you stab the throttle. I know from my own experience that getin suspension dialed in can be a night and day difference on the strip. From my research, movin the rearend in these cars can make a pretty substatial difference, hence the adjustable LCA's and TA. As for the springs, Im more worried about forward bite than ride quality. Did you notice a pretty big difference in traction with the Stranos? I wasnt even thinkin about KYB for adjustable shocks. How much can you adjust em?

My new car has the KYBs on it too. They are set a little too stiff in the front for my taste right now, so I need to make an adjustment, but they seem like a pretty good budget, adjustable shock.

I gotcha. From what I understand, the Strano's don't just have excellent ride quality, but they also have very good launch characteristics at the thrack, although i haven't taken mine to the track yet so I couldn't vouch for them personally. I've heard of people shaving quite a bit off of their 60' with them. The KYB's have an adjustment knob with 9 settings on it, so there's a pretty broad range that they can be set at, just takes some figuring out on your part exactly where you want them

Ya, I was told that a 150# spring would work best in the rear, and I believe that what Strano uses. I definitly like the stance that cars w/ Strano springs have. Im thinkin Ill prally end up goin with some KYB's. That should be enough adjustability to help quite a bit, without costin me an arm and a leg. Thanks a lot guys.

Strano's are 550 up front and 150 in the rear.

BMR's are 550 up front and 170 in the rear.

I don't what to say about the shocks. I know I'm going with Koni's for sure but I'm not setting my car up for drag racing.

Would you happen to know what rates the Eibach sport lines are? Also, how do the Konis stack up against the QA1's or Strange shocks?

Ya, I was thinkin about Auto-x or road racing, but it just doesnt appeal to me. Its exciting, but corners arent my thing lol.

Man, I wouldn't touch anything Eibach makes and I damn sure wouldn't touch the sportlines :true:

I have eibach and KYB. If/When I decide to put more money in my piece I'll go strano and Koni. I'm all about handling though so not sure what to suggest for straight line stuff.

Strano for handling for sure. He has dedicated his life to racing camaros so he can give the best advice on what should be used. He is usually good about answering questions through PM, Email or Calls.
